April 10 – Game 2

Three of the road teams managed to win today. The road teams used their A lineups, while the home teams introduced their B lineups. (There is no better/worse lineup, see how the rosters are constructed here.) The Pittsburgh Crawfords are the last remaining undefeated team.
Satchel Paige gave up two runs in the bottom of the first, but did not give up another run in the next 9 innings of the 15-inning game.
Today I’m going to focus on the center fielder for Washington, “Turkey” Stearnes, in my Player Focus post. Stearnes homered for the second straight game, while going 3 for 5. He was only a single short of the cycle. On opening day, his home run was of the inside-the-park variety. This was the first time I have seen this happen in a Strat-O-Matic game.

  1. Yeah it’s perfect now… By the way I’m from Wales, so I don’t know how Strat-O-Matic works as obviously have never been exposed to it in the UK, but seriously thinking of buying a set. Can you recommend one or is it best to start with current squads till you know how to play thoroughly.

    • If you buy the PC game, you get the 2019 season and that’s a great place to start. Once you get the hang of it, then you can branch out to older seasons (MLB, Negro Leagues, even Japanese). There are also card/dice games if you prefer.
