Week 1 Reflection

One week into my Buck O’Neil project – a 112-game simulated Strat-O-Matic season featuring Negro League legends and MLB Hall-Of_Famers. Games are played in 4-game sets from Thursday through Sunday and I report the results on this blog each day. Two of the opening series were split, and the other two went 3-1. Washington and New York are currently tied for first.

Statistics will be uploaded each Sunday to this website: League Statistics . For some reason, the batting averages section is not showing up (as well as all statistics that include batting average). I am hoping that will be straightened out by next week.

I am adding a “Player Focus” to the blog on each game day. You can find all of them through this link: Player Foucus Posts. This week I profiled Louis Santop, Turkey Stearnes, Quincy Trouppe, and Oscar “Heavy” Johnson. There are 103 players in Strat-O-Matic’s set, so I will be adding 9 other players like Jackie Robinson, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays … along the way.

I have enjoyed the feedback, and I have found many people who are doing a great job keeping the legacy of these players alive. If you have any ideas, or you’d like to contribute to the blog by writing/sharing a post please let me know.

Stay safe – George
