Today I played the first game of the second 4-game series. This week’s match ups are Newark at Birmingham, Pittsburgh at Detroit, St. Louis at Kansas City, and Washington at New York. Today’s games are played with each team’s A lineup (Negro League legends starting at catcher, 2b, 3b, and center field).
Greg Maddox became the first 2-game winner, leading Pittsburgh to a 4-2 win over Detroit.
My favorite game was New York’s 3-0 win over Washington. The game was scoreless until New York put up 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th.
Today’s Player Focus post is on legendary Jackie Robinson. This is the first of nine posts that will focus on players not included in Strat-O-Matic’s 103-player Negro League legend card set. I chose to feature Jackie today in honor of yesterday’s 73rd anniversary of his first game with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.
