In the finale of the 4-game sets, both teams used their B lineups. One game went to extra innings, and one game was a blowout.
Birmingham beat Washington 4-3 thanks to a 2-run home run rally in the bottom of the 8th inning. Hurley McNair drove in the two runs with a double.
St. Louis edged Detroit 6-4. Eddie Collins had 4 RBI, to support Leon Day’s third win. Day’s only mistake was a 4th inning grand slam by Bobby Doerr, which was Doerr’s second grand slam this season.
Pittsburgh beat Kansas City 5-4 in 10 innings. Slim Jones went 9-2/3 innings to pick up the win, while giving up 9 hits and 7 walks. Jimmie Crutchfield, Dobie Moore, and Frog Redus supported his effort with a total of 8 hits and 3 RBI.
Newark blanked New York 8-0. William Bell threw a complete game shutout, Superman Pennington had 3 RBI, and Pop Lloyd homered.
