I have decided to temporarily suspend the Buck O’Neil project, and I believe it is the right thing to do. I started the project as a way to learn about the legends of the Negro Leagues, who were kept out of the major leagues because of systematic racism. At this time, our country needs to focus on racial issues highlighted by the killings of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd. I don’t want to distract from this, and I don’t want to be distracted from it, so I am going to temporarily pause these posts.
At some point I will continue on with this project, because I think it is an important part of our past. Hopefully that will happen soon. We could all learn so much from Buck O’Neil. Please be safe out there, and do what you can to make this a better place for all of us.
